This all means that we as women in football need more suitable pairs of women’s football boots in circulation, and that can only be a good thing for the game.

Our expert Emily took the adidas F50 for a spin (in a different colourway), and she had nothing but praise. She tested the Elite version, but here’s the inside scoop—the Pro version offers nearly identical tech for almost £100 less.
As a midfielder, she knows the importance of ball control, and these boots delivered. I put the Puma Women’s Ultra 5 Ultimate to the test, and let’s just say—they’re built for speed, precision, and serious comfort! As someone who’s picky about a comfy fit, these boots impressed me with their lightweight, aerodynamic design and PWRTAPE SQD support frame, which kept my feet secure even during full-throttle sprints.
The GripControl Pro technology gave me extra confidence when dribbling at high speeds, and the FastTrax studs provided the stability I needed for quick cuts and sharp movements. The only downside? There’s no women’s SG version, so if you’re playing on a muddy pitch, you might need to opt for the unisex SG model instead.

Best for Strikers
I put the adidas Predator to the test, and as a striker, they’ve quickly become one of my go-to boots. The precision when shooting is seriously next level—thanks to the Strikeskin grip, I could add extra swerve and control to my shots like never before. Personally, I love the laced version with the tongue, as it keeps me feeling secure and locked in for the full 90 minutes. The ControlFrame 2.0 soleplate also impressed me, offering the stability I need for quick sprints and sharp movements.
Enzo gave them a run too and noticed the HybridTouch upper is softer than past Predator models, making for a snugger fit. While he preferred the laced version minus the tongue for his role as a centre-back, even he admitted the tongue design wins in the looks department! Best for Wide Feet
Another women-specific boot? That meant Emily was up again! Her favourite feature of the Puma Future 8 was hands down the FUZIONFIT 3 upper, which moulded perfectly to her foot for a truly personalised fit.
Running through our drills, she found the GripControl Pro finish gave her excellent ball control—even at top speed. The 360 Agility soleplate kept her movements fluid and unrestricted, while the sockliner provided next-level support, making her feel more secure than ever in a football boot. She also loved the option to wear them with or without laces—naturally, she put both to the test. While she ultimately stuck with the laces, she found the laceless option just as capable, proving these boots are all about choice and comfort!
