PES 2020 may just be the most beautiful football game ever made. And I’m not just talking about the smooth and incredibly satisfying gameplay.
The graphics, lighting and atmosphere of Konami’s latest release are just downright jaw-dropping at times. While the improved player models and gorgeous cutscenes are undoubtedly impressive, the introduction of an enhanced lighting engine means that it’s the stadiums which completely steal the show.
Whether you’re playing under the warm mid-day sun or the sparkle of the floodlights, these bustling footballing arenas create a truly immersive match-day experience. So, you’ll obviously want to make use of all the best PES 2020 stadiums throughout your myClub and Master League campaigns.
Let’s run through them.
Capacity: 70,074
Club: River Plate
This bowl-shaped arena has been a staple of Pro Evolution Soccer for years now, and it remains an absolute joy to play in. Although the inclusion of a running track somewhat ruins the atmosphere, El Monumental always looks stunning in the build-up to a game, looking particularly impressive when it’s packed with colour and basking in the South American sun.
Capacity: 60,260
Club: Arsenal
You only need to look at this official screenshot to see how awesome the Emirates Stadium looks. Okay, so that obstructive shadow will become a bit annoying on sunny match-days, but you just can’t deny that Arsenal’s arena is a worthy home for your myClub team - especially if you’ve bagged yourself one of the game’s North London legends. Andrey Arshavin, anyone?
Capacity: 41,507
Club: Juventus
While FIFA players will be busy wondering what on earth “Piemonte Calcio” means, those on PES will be rather smugly enjoying Juventus’ Allianz Stadium. It might not have the largest capacity, but this arena has ushered in an unprecedented era of Juve dominance over the past 10 years. This is the perfect place for you to establish real success out on the pitch, and one of the big reasons so many FIFA players are switching to PES this year.
Capacity: 75,024
Club: Bayern Munich
It’s in the pre-match build-up where the Allianz Arena really takes the breath away, particularly on big European nights. The illuminated exterior looks absolutely magnificent as the camera rolls overhead, while the action on the pitch always feels intense under the glare of the floodlights. This is yet another stadium which is completely exclusive to PES.
Capacity: 76,000
Club: Manchester United
It might have a leaky roof and remain in need of urgent repairs, but the Theatre of Dreams is still one of the most iconic stadiums in PES 2020. The generous 76,000-seater capacity means the atmosphere can be absolutely electric at times, providing plenty of space for fans to scream your side over the finish line.
After all, when it’s squeaky bum time, you’ll need all the help you can get.
Capacity: 49,000
Club: Boca Juniors
The cauldron of El Bombonera is always absolutely fantastic on video games, creating the kind of intimidating atmosphere that most clubs can only dream of. The stands sit right up against the edge of the grass, while it also holds the smallest pitch allowed under current FIFA regulations. It’s intimate, to say the least.
Capacity: 99,354
Club: FC Barcelona
The sheer scope and scale of the Camp Nou makes it more than a worthy winner here. Capable of housing almost 100,000 frenzied fans, this is the ideal stage for any Master League or myClub campaign, while you’ll be completely swallowed up when taking to the pitch in Become a Legend.
The introduction of legendary managers means that Johan Cruyff can take to the Catalan touchline yet again. You can count me in.
