What are adidas Yeezy?
Born as recently as 2015, the adidas Yeezy has become one of the most sought after trainers in the world. A collaboration between the Marmite rap phenomenon Kanye West and sportswear giant adidas, the release could have gone either way. Spoiler alert: it went very much the right way.
Since West jumped ship (more on that shortly) there have been a total of 9 iterations, each with a limited circulation, providing that undeniable Yeezy FOMO crave every time. Inevitably leading to some of the most expensive Yeezys ever seen.
What are Nike Air Yeezy?
Most people are unaware, but the Yeezy brand began back in 2007 when Kanye West first paired up with Nike senior designer Mark Smith. The first sneaker was a blend of the Air Tech Challenge II, the early Air Jordan III and IV silhouettes. In 2009, the first 5,000 Nike Air Yeezy flew off the shelves as quickly as bars from West’s own tongue.
In 2012, the Nike Air Yeezy II was released to the public. The design leaned strongly on that of the Nike Air Tech Challenge II tennis model, with the usual twist of multiple lively colourways, including a ‘surprise release’ of the Red Octobers, which sold out within minutes.

Worn by Kanye West himself at the 2008 Grammy Awards, where he picked up no fewer than 4 gongs. This prototype shoe was created as a teaser to the real thing, which would be released the following year, and it worked beautifully. If you can get your hands on a pair, you better have been a Gold Digger first.
Nike Air Yeezy 2 Red October - £9,000+
Remember those Red Octobers I mentioned earlier? Well, here they are. They sit in the most expensive list due to that genius ‘surprise release’. It meant a mad rush to the Nike site for buyers, selling out in minutes and pushing resale costs up to insane levels. I think your head would just about Touch The Sky when you saw the price tag.
adidas Yeezy 350 Pirate Black - £2,900+
Even though these are a reasonably standard pair of Yeezys, the colourway was massively popular with sneakerheads. Immediately selling out of their limited numbers (shock), the classic style meant it was one suited to all. You’ll do well to get your hands on a pair for less than £2,900, Diamonds could be useful for a part exchange.

adidas Yeezy Boost V2 700 Tephra
We love this colourway on the Boost 700 v2. The rubber gum outsole adds a retro vibe to a trainer which is already effortlessly stylish. The thick midsole and layered upper work together perfectly for a balanced, modern silhouette. Kanye didn’t mention it, but if Jesus had the choice, he may have just chosen to walk in these.

Yeezus! We threw it out there from the standard colourways with this one. The 380 ‘Mist’ is affectionately known as ‘mouldy bread’. Sounds bad, but it’s so unique that it works. The overarching theme was to create a space-age sneaker, you can clearly see what adidas and Kanye were experimenting with. A higher midsole rounds the entire creation off nicely.

For us, it wouldn’t be a sneaker list without including a high top. Turn off All Of The Lights, these literally glow in the dark. A little pricier than our other options, but you certainly get an outstanding fashion statement in return. With the Boost midsole and suede upper covered by a bold over-top strap for supported fit.
