The Glory Years

Established in 1881, Watford are not only one of the oldest teams in London, but in the whole of English football. The Hornets most successful stint came through the '80s, where the club, under the watchful eye of Graham Taylor and chairman Elton John, managed to rise from the fourth to the then top tier in ten seasons. With other accolades coming in the form of competing in the 1983-84 UEFA Cup, and reaching the ‘84 FA Cup Final. Since then Watford have had a rocky relationship with the top flight of English football, but the 2014-15 season saw Watford clinch promotion to the Premier League, so let’s hope they are there to stay!
